Internet Snippets: Not Your Mom’s Facebook

Ashley Walters

Welcome to Internet Snippets, where I take you on a deep dive to random points of the grand ‘ol big information source that is the internet. Today we’ll be traveling to various Facebook groups. After all, it is just a downgraded Reddit.

Community discussion boards like Reddit or Facebook groups are run by administrators that can set rules and let people join or kick people out. There are some especially odd ones that I’m part of. We’ll be looking at a few of those today. With all of that being said, let’s-a-go!

First up we have “Cakes with Threatening Auras”

This group is private, meaning you must first be accepted via a screening survey. I personally feel very special being part of it. This group has various posts such as:

I’m very thankful for that last one. I wish I would have had that as my first birthday cake. Anyways, next up we have “A group where we speak nonsense and pretend it’s gibberish”.

This one has fabulous ones like:

Beautiful. I have no clue what that means, but I suppose that is the point.

Next on our magical journey we have “Signs with threatening auras”. I’m pretty sure that first one is photoshopped, but that’s none of my business.

And last but not least we have: “Gripping Squishmallows with Force”. Lord help me. I’m not really sure what the purpose of this group is and I don’t think I want to know. Apparently there was enough drama for it to get paused by the admin. Oh dear. Yeah, this is pretty bad.
