What’s Hot — Iphone X

January 18, 2018

The Iphone X, aka the Iphone10 (some people get triggered when you say it wrong–thanks commercials for confusing me), is the newest iphone that Apple has developed.  It was released on November 3rd, and it features an on screen Face ID.  I’ve heard that it is a lot like the Iphone 8, and as an outsider looking in, (I’m a proud Samsung user, don’t hate me please) I am just curious as to why they skipped 9.  What happened to 9?  My guess is they really wanted to use “X” and the creators just couldn’t wait.  Regardless, the iphone X has taken the world by storm–or has it?

When did you get the Iphone X and why?

Logan Harrison, freshman: I got it in December and I got it because I needed a new phone badly.

Sumer Jasmine, alumni: I got the iPhone X right around Christmas because the battery on my iPhone 6 was getting really bad.

Kody Moore, freshman: I preordered the phone on the available preorder date, which was some time in October 2017. I later received the phone in the mail late November 2017. I bought it as a gift for myself, and was intrigued into buying it by its new sleek iPhone design.

What are your overall thoughts of the product? (what’s different about it, etc.)

Logan: It is better than my old phone and it is lighter than any other phone I have had. I also like the big screen.

Sumer: In my opinion the iPhone X is the most progressive phone in the market. The all-screen design completely changes the user experience. The removal of a home button forces you to learn new gestures like swiping up from the bottom to return home. However, once you learn these gestures, every iPhone before it feels obsolete. It’s definitely a game changer from Apple.

Kody: The screen is a game changer. It’s completely different than any iPhone ever with a new OLED Display instead of the older screen designs. The camera is also new for any iPhone ever, with the highest image capturing power yet. I have also noticed a longer battery life, and much faster processing.

What do you like best about it?

Logan: The durability is what I like best about it.

Sumer: My favorite feature is Face ID which uses facial recognition to unlock the phone. Each time you unlock the iPhone X, it updates and adapts to your face so over time recognition becomes increasingly more accurate.

Kody: My personal favorite thing about the phone has to be the display. It’s new screen design allows better image resolutions and overall makes colors look better on images.

What do you dislike?

Logan: It is a bit pricey.

Sumer: The only problem is the “notch” at the top of the screen because it removes valuable screen space. Although this does become less noticeable after a week or so of use.

Kody: The thing I dislike the most is definitely the annoying notch on the very top of the screen. I feel that Apple could have reduced the size of this.

Would you recommend the iphone X to potential buyers?

Logan: Yes

Sumer: I would definitely recommend the iPhone X, especially for anyone still using a 6 or older. Treat yo self.

Kody: Personally for that price of the phone, no. But with all the new features, yes I would. If you don’t think you can save the money for the phone or if it burns a real hole in your wallet, then don’t waste your time. However, if your looking for the best experience that you can get with a smartphone right now, then I highly recommend it.

Anything else you would like to add:

Sumer: This iPhone is X-traordinary 😉 Also Androids suck butt @ you Sammy Jo

Kody: We possibly won’t see iPhone models like this ever again due to how expensive it is for apple to make them.

What would you rate it? (1-5 stars)

Logan: 4 and a half stars

Sumer: 5/5 would recommend

Kody: Solid 4. This phone comes with it’s cool features. It does have its downsides though. The price is unrealistic to any average person looking for an optimal phone. However for the tech enthusiast this is the top item to get right now.

All things considered, I would highly recommend talking to any of these boys about the iphone X if you are still curious about it.  The iphone X seems like a hit (or as Sumer said, “X-traordinary”).  A common annoyance seems to be the little notch at the top of the screen, or the fact that it’s pretty darn expensive, but so what–you do you.  2018 baby.  Okay I’m going to end this before it gets weird.  4 1/2 stars.
