Cleaning the Pathway to our Hearts

November 19, 2018

If there was an olympic games for high school students, the majority of us would win gold in the category of laziness.  For example, we throw trash on our classroom floors and don’t think twice to pick it up. We come to school the next day and the rooms are magically clean again. No, little fairies do not come and clean up the garbage. However, people more magical do.

The custonidans here at our school are some on the most down to earth, selfless people. Although we can all agree one person in particular sticks out a bit more.

Mr. Tristani has been working here since March of 2014 and has played a major role in our school since. He is someone who is an extremely hard worker, but will always make sure to say hello or ask you how you are.

Many teachers feel very passionate about the custodians and how students treat them, such as ninth grade history teacher, Ms. Lemmon.

“I appreciate his diligence and his attention to detail. He’s always there to help the students and teachers when they are in need,” said Ms. Lemmon. “I always stress to my students to clean-up after themselves, and if they see a mess that’s not theirs to clean it up anyway.”

Many people could not agree more with Ms. Lemmon, such as sophomore Rocky Kopac.

“Mr. Tristani does not get enough credit for his hard work. He does so much for our school that no one really sees. He cleans both cafeterias, raises the tables, and even cleans up kids’ vomit,” said Kopac.

Although many students are thankful for Mr. Trisanti, some are more biased than others.

Freshman Brendan Tristani gets the opportunity to not only go to school with his dad, but also go home with him.

“The best thing about my dad is that I can ask him anything and he will give me the best answer, like on anything mechanical,” said Brendan.

Mr. Tristani has also spent most of his life making sure his sons have some of the best memories.

“My favorite memory with him is when he dragged me on the Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point and he was more scared than me.”

Mr. Tristani is one of the biggest reasons why our school is always clean and we have the supplies we need. Sometimes we see him rolling carts around so he can clean the disgusting bathrooms that we make gross everyday, or carrying boxes of heavy supplies from classroom to classroom. We always see him during the school day, but he stays after school as well when we all leave.

“He doesn’t get enough credit,” said Brendan. “He does a lot behind the scenes at dances and stuff,” said Brendan.

If you ever need advice or just need your day brightened, Mr. Tristani in the guy for you! He is someone who is very involved in the importance of students having everything we need in our environment to get a better education. We all appreciate him and what he does on a regular basis. He is a great role model and friend to everyone he encounters.

Ms Lemmon said, “Mr. Tristani is a great addition to our ‘Knoch Family’ and needs to be recognized for all of his efforts and hard work. He’s such a positive person which definitely shows through his kindness and friendliness.”
