Oh, The Places You Will Go
June 5, 2019
When you look up the definition of a small town, does our town fit? Well.. it doesn’t exactly, but it really should! Saxonburg is a borough in Butler County, PA with a population of 1,464 people. Imagine staying here for the rest of your life and never experiencing our massive, beautiful, world. Junior, Rachel Armour, has already planned on seeking adventure this summer on the other side of the globe.
“I am going on a mission trip to Myanmar, which is a country located next to China.” said Armour. “I have never traveled out of the country before so I’ve never been this far away from home. The farthest I have ever been is Florida.”
“I found out about this mission trip through my youth pastor at the youth group at my church,” said Armour. “It costs $2500 to go and I had a lot of my friends and family give me generous donations so I would be able to go. I am very grateful to be able to have such amazing people in my life.”
Going to a country with much more diversity may be a difficult task, but it will no doubt help to make you grow as a person. “We plan on going away for 10 days. I will be gone from July 24th till August 2nd,” said Armour. “I am very excited to experience a new part of the world and be introduced to a new culture.”
First time plane passenger, Armour, is a little nervous about her flights. “The plane ride is gonna be a ROUGH one,” said Armour. “I have an hour and a half plane ride to New York, with a 5 hour layover, then I have a 15 hour plane ride to Shanghai with a three hour layover, and then finally after another 5 hour plane ride I will be in Myanmar.”
“I have decided to go on this trip because I have always really wanted to go on a mission trip. I think this is an amazing opportunity to not only help other people but further myself in my faith,” said Armour.
Safe travels to our girl Rachel and may her trip be the best one yet!
