Wake up, do homework, sleep, repeat

April 21, 2020

Now that we’re not allowed to leave our houses, people are running out of things to do in this feared time. Adjusting to change is always difficult, but this time it is especially difficult.  When we’re all not watching Tik Toks, everyone’s worried about what’s going to happen in the near future, and if we’ll actually have a regular summer, like everyone wants. Hopefully, it will all calm down soon so we can return to our lives with some normalcy.

Ms. T made us journal, and here’s some of what I had to say:

What frustrates you the most recently? Vent it out in your writing. If nothing angers you, what are you most passionate about?

Right now, I’m mad I can’t do anything, but I’m positive that if this virus wasn’t a thing, I still wouldn’t leave my house because I don’t have a social life, but, because I’m told I can’t do anything, I want to do anything but sit in my room watching Disney Plus.  Also I really wish people would stop posting new “challenges” on their Instagram stories because I was tagged in too many of them, and I don’t understand what they’re for.

What is the one thing I will miss the most from school?

As much as I say I don’t like school, I sort of miss it because I miss being around people my age and having pointless, funny conversations with them.

What are you observing other people doing?

From what I’ve observed, other people are so bored, and no one knows what to do with their time, so they sit on TikTok and post about how bored they are on their snapchat stories.

What are you wearing everyday and why?

My quarantine fits consist of lots of sweatpants and various shirts I’ve gotten from family  vacations.

Here’s what some other students had to say:

What is something you missed while away from school?

Student Name: Braydon Sloan

Grade: 10

“I’d say I maily missed just the interaction with everyone, even teachers, like we all say ‘school sucks and I never want to come back,’ but when we are forced to stay inside you realize how much interaction actually means.”

Student Name: Mackenzie Protos

Grade: 9

“All of my friends and teachers. Without their support, I find it hard to do anything and it damages my mental health severely.”

Student Name: Emily Kriley

Grade: 11

Playing with my lacrosse team, eating lunch in yearbook with Ms. T, walking down the hallways in between classes, and parking in the school parking lot.”

How have you been spending your days?

Student Name:  Izzy Sciolla

Grade: 12

“I have been spending my days doing school work, working out, dancing, practicing my viola, and spending time with my horse.”

Student Name: Taylor Davis

Grade: 10

“Sleeping and doing homework lol”

Student Name: Nate Anthony

Grade: 9

“Hanging out with my family and helping around the house”

How much work have you done on your “at home” lessons?

Student Name:  Gabe Webb

Grade: 11

“I’ve done a lot of the work. It’s hard following along because there are so many emails coming in and the chromebooks aren’t good at tab management.”

Student Name: Brooke Lassinger

Grade: 10

“I have kept up with it but sometimes it’s SO OVERWHELMING.”

Student Name: Brendan Tristani

Grade: 10

“I’m behind for sure”

Do you prefer doing your work/learning at school or at home?

Student Name: Jake Murphy

Grade: 9

“School”

Student Name: Brynnae Coe

Grade: 10

“I’d say school because I feel more motivated to actually do the work and go to classes because of the whole atmosphere at school. I like leading hands on with friends rather than online by myself!”

Student Name:  Lilly Howell

Grade: 11

“Honestly, I’d rather do it at school because I have zero motivation and I procrastinate literally everything.”
