Quarantine 15? COVID-19???

Hello. First and foremost, please, take care of yourself. This is a different kind of blog because I am starting off with a PSA: Gaining weight during this quarantine is not that big of a deal. Look at the circumstances we are under; gyms are closed, accessibility to fresh food might be limited, going out and just walking is a variable.

This is not a normal situation, therefore we have to first take care of ourselves mentally instead of fearing about gaining the “COVID-19”. To clarify, that is what people are calling gaining weight during quarantine. First of all, NO.

We are in the middle of a global pandemic, now is not the time to worry or cause others to worry about anything in addition to staying home, and staying healthy.

Here are a few ways to just destress and stay calm:

Yoga

If that’s your jam. It’s a great calming exercise. Some days it works better for me than others, don’t be discouraged if you can’t clear your mind the first time.

Meditate

This can help tremendously. I like to find a quiet place, sit down, and just be still.

Cook or bake for yourself

I make myself granola every week because it is cheaper and healthier than store bought granola. Plus, it takes up time and is totally customizable!

Try out something new!

I’ve done a few things to keep my mind and body occupied; I started reading, I go on several walks a day, I am starting to become more plant based in my diet so I am doing research on that, and I started a new workout program to challenge myself.

Another great hobby that my family does is puzzling. Just get a big 2000 piece puzzle and you’ll be entertained for hours.
