In the Lake of the Woods

“What John felt that night, and for many nights afterward, was the desire to kill.”

AMAZON description: This riveting novel of love and mystery from the author of The Things They Carried examines the lasting impact of the twentieth century’s legacy of violence and warfare, both at home and abroad. When long-hidden secrets about the atrocities he committed in Vietnam come to light, a candidate for the U.S. Senate retreats with his wife to a lakeside cabin in northern Minnesota. Within days of their arrival, his wife mysteriously vanishes into the watery wilderness.

My review:

Hi and welcome to the mess which is an unreliable narrator. In The Lake of the Woods by Tim O’Brien. you get to meet John Wade,  aka “ The Magician”. He is kind of crazy or maybe not very crazy. He stalked his future wife in the past but did he have anything to do with her disappearance?

This is not a bad book persay, just not my cup of tea. It jumps around a lot. I don’t personally like that. I also do not like at the end of some chapters they have like interviews things. . . kind of confusing. But on the flip side, I was so invested in this book just to see if he killed her. I may not really like it but it keeps me hooked.

All in all it’s not a bad AP book…. I am only reading this because of AR. . . but it’s not the worst AR book I have ever read. So if you want a crazy kooky story this is the one for you!
