Knoch Students Overflow Frau’s Class

Hallo! Ich heiße Mackenzie und Ich bin in Deutsch zwie.

If you know what that means without the help of Google Translate, you’re probably taking German. Actually, lot of people are.

In fact, this year’s German I and II classes have a total 141 students, more than Frau Karns has ever had before. And like most teachers would, she has mixed feelings on this huge increase.

“I’m happy because people want to take the class but also stressed because it’s a lot of work!” said Karns.

Since this increase was unexpected, it has already caused quite a few complications, the biggest being with the textbooks.

“We did not have enough textbooks and had to order more.” said Karns.

German I and II both use the same textbooks, and since the classes have never been this large, there were only enough for German I students. If anyone in German II wanted to use a book, they had to borrow one from the limited supply in the back.

Like Karns, the students have mixed feelings on the full classes and their size.

“The classes are too big. It’s horrible. It’s loud. I feel we could get more done if only there were less kids.” said sophomore Jordan Graham.

Not all German students share Graham’s negative attitude towards the change in class size. Others, such as sophomore Nathaniel Webb, see it as a good thing.

“With a class this size- dude! It’s lit!” said Webb. “I love it!”

The classes may be large, insane, and downright crazy, but everyone still agrees it’s worth it.

“Even though the classes are crowded, that’s just because Frau is the bomb. German is still my absolute favorite class and I’m excited to be a part of it.” said Graham.
