Many times people in the workout community see legs as the side girl, the “not a priority,” the most inconvenient unconventional workout.

This is just not in fact true.

Legs are the base of our bodies, the things that walk us through the day, the things that literally keep us moving.  Not a lot of things can compare to a good leg pump.  You may make the argument that because I am a girl, that I only care about getting my glutes toned, which I will admit, is a priority for me, but it is not the only reason to train legs.

Benefits are pretty limitless, it strengthens your core, improves body symmetry, makes joints stronger, it provides better aesthetics of muscularity, and it helps lose body fat.

“You got to keep everything in proportion” says senior Dade George.  “You can’t have a huge chest with little legs.”

Understandably, legs can be aggravating to exercise.  Form plays such a big role into the workouts that it can hinder abilities based on previous injuries, soreness, and personal motivation.  Times more often than not, gyms are crowded like no other.  Machines are hard to hop on to, especially when Mr. “I own the gym,” is on 5 different stations at once, but free-weight dumbbell exercises are very very beneficial to leg development.  Some of my personal favorites include, Bulgarian split squats, RDL’s, sumo squats, lunges, and an occasional sprint workout helps me to define my legs.

All in all, leg day is pretty satisfying, and if you are neglecting yours, maybe you should give them a little more attention.
