Musical is Back Baby

The Knoch High School musical is back! This year’s musical is Newsies, a perfect choice for the mass influx of boys this year. With way more boys auditioning than usual and an impressive roster of talented girls, the musical is poised to make a brilliant in-person return.

“Everyone is ready for an explosive and entertaining show in person. This is mostly due to the fact that last year’s musical did not have a similar energy due to the lack of an audience,” said senior Jack Walker. Last year’s musical Beehive was recorded and played for the audience instead of a live performance, and it seems everyone is itching to return to a live crowd.

This year, neither the freshman nor sophomore class have had the opportunity to perform the school musical in front of a live crowd. The last time an audience saw Knoch High School’s musical live was early March 2020, only weeks before the pandemic.

“I am excited to see what these two classes do as we crush an amazing musical! Opening night is in the auditorium in person on March 4th at 7:30,” said Walker.

New Variant Alert: Omicron Edition

In some kinda good kinda bad news, an article from USA Today claims the new Omicron variant of coronavirus could be more contagious, but less dangerous.

Definitive data will not be available for a few weeks, but as of now it appears that this strain of the virus is spreading more easily but causing less serious harm.

“This virus comes with both barrels loaded; high infectivity and potentially the ability for immune evasion. But maybe what it’s lacking is pathogenicity,” said Dr. Warner Greene to USA Today

If omicron became more common than delta, that could be good since it might be less dangerous. Of course any virus spreading rapidly is not the greatest thing in the world, but relatively, we may be on the cusp of some “good” COVID news.
