Why Won’t My Parents Let Me Take Candy From Strangers?

Spooky season is upon us. Everyone loves a good Halloween season. I do. You do. I honestly can’t think of anyone who doesn’t. But… I’ve never actually celebrated Halloween before. Don’t get me wrong- I want to. But I just haven’t.

And honestly, now that I’m writing this article, I’m kind of skeptical if I have or not.

For some reason my family just never did any Halloween stuff. Actually I’ve been told it’s because it’s weird to go up to people I don’t know and beg for candy, but ya girl really loves candy. I really don’t care if it’s “weird.” It’s still something I want to do.

My parents took my oldest sibling trick or treating but they’ve never taken any of the rest of us. And there are four of us.

I’ve only been trick or treating twice. Once in middle school (I think) and once junior year. I mean, I did have fun both times. Definitely would do again. So shout out to Alex Jaksec for taking me for the first time ever.

But, what I really want to do is go see a haunted house. I never have before and it seems like it would be really fun. I feel like everyone at this school goes to different stuff like that every year, and I want to join the likes of them.

I mean, every year all I hear is about people going to the Beacon and I can never relate to what they’re saying. I mean, one of my best friends lives down the road yet I’ve still never been.

So tell me, is it worth going? Am I missing out? Because I really feel like I am.

If I’m being honest, I’ve never even truly dressed up in a cool costume. I do have senior dress up day this year, so I have a chance to finally fulfill that dream.

Halloween is just so interesting to me. You get to pretend to be anyone/anything you want. Plus there’s candy. I seriously love candy.

But for real, I feel like everyone has these stories about Halloween from when they were younger, and I wish I had that. I wish that I had pictures of me dressed up as something cute. Because let’s be honest, any baby in a costume is adorable.

Costume shops are fun because you get to see the ridiculous outfits that they have. If anyone wants to go to a costume shop and try on costumes, please can we go? I went once last year and I tried on a costume from Hocus Pocus (because it’s my all-time favorite movie) and it was a good time.

I love everything about Halloween. I love watching scary movies: they’re the best. As I’ve already mentioned, I love candy. And I love seeing what people dress up as.

All around it’s an amazing holiday (which I think we should get off school for). But I’m sad that I’ve never got to experience it in full before. So if anyone wants to do cute and spooky Halloween activities with me this year, then I’m seriously begging to go.

Halloween is fun because no matter what age you are there’s stuff for you to do. I know when I’m older I’m going to celebrate it every year. If I have kids, I’ll make them dress up in the cutest costumes ever.

Even though I’ve never truly celebrate Halloween by doing a lot of what I feel are the “traditional” things to do, It’s still going to always be one of my favorite holidays. Plus there’s candy.

PS: if anyone has any suggestions of movies then please do tell.

Cam, ask your French friends to do some “spooky” activities with you. They’re all about the “spooky” season. They’re pretty spooktacular!
    Nice article!
