Grade: 9

How long have you been a dancer?

I’ve been dancing for a little over 12 years, since I was 3.

Why did you start dancing?

My dad died pretty early on in my life so I think my mom just wanted me to get into something so that I didn’t fall into too much grief. I immediately took a liking to it and I still love it to this day.

Who is your biggest inspiration in dance?

One of my instructors, Gretchen Bleakney is an incredibly strong dancer. She has an amazing work ethic and her tough love is probably the reason I have the academic grades, physical strength, and achievements that I have today.

What is your favorite thing about dance?

I really enjoy channeling my emotions into my dancing.  There’s something truly liberating by being able to move in ways that express thoughts and feelings all in one.

How will dance play a role in the rest of your life?

I hope to continue dancing through college, and I’d even like to work at a dance studio at some point in my life. However, as much as I love dance, I don’t think that it will play a role in my core career.

Hey, my name is Grace Poeppel. I'm 18 and a senior this year. I love coffee, photography, and country music. I've been a dancer since I was 3 years old. I'm also a Knochette in the marching band, I'm one of the team captains this year. If you want to find me, I'm probably dancing.
