Have you ever wanted to take an AP (Advance Placement) class and didn’t because you were led to believe that it would be too hard? Today you are going to find out whether it’s easy or difficult. I have interviewed senior Bennett Shaw, senior Macrina Robb, and junior Lily Goetz. They were all interviewed about different AP classes including AP Art History, AP European History, and AP Physics.
First is Shaw on AP Euro, and he said that he took this class because he really enjoys history, and learning about the past. But does AP Euro help Shaw in any way for his future?
“When I go to college I can use this class for college credits,” said Shaw.
This will get Shaw out of those introductory classes in his first year of college.
The teacher who teaches AP Euro is Mr. Pflugh, who has taught this class for numerous years.
Shaw likes Mr. Pflugh for his enthusiasm and love for history. He is also an easygoing teacher and will give you help if you ask.
Shaw openly expressed his love by saying, “Mr. Pflugh is the G.O.A.T and his class is awesome.”
Even though this has been the only AP class Shaw has taken, he said it seems easy so far. Shaw would recommend other people take AP Euro.
“It’s an awesome class and the information we’re learning is very valuable,” said Shaw.
Second, we have Goetz with AP Art History.
“I took this class since I have taken almost every art course and this was one of the more challenging ones,” said Goetz. “I was looking for a challenge for one of my last years of high school.”
AP Art History is definitely difficult if you don’t have an interest in what you’re learning.
“For some, it could be a hard class, but I think the more interested you are the more you will be willing to learn,” said Goetz. “If you are thinking about taking the class just do it. It’s an elective and it’s pretty cool. You can grow and learn new passions you may never know you had.”
You should always be open to trying new things and AP Art History is something worth looking into if you like art and how it originated.
With that being said now we move on to Robb with AP Physics.
AP Physics is taught by Mrs. Nickles and she has been teaching it for many years. Robb said that it is a very interesting and fun class.
Robb goes on to say that she hasn’t taken many AP classes.
Don’t just take AP classes for the weighted grade take them because you want to. Like Goetz said, if you are interested in it you will be willing to learn more about the class. It won’t feel like a burden to do so. Don’t let people scare you off when you ask them about AP classes. Leave it up to yourself!
Closing words from Robb, “Take AP classes for the content, not the weighted grade.”
