Fortnite, a game that blew up in July of 2017, was the biggest hit of its time! Everyone was playing: streamers, youtubers, friends, maybe parents. It wasn’t just a game; many stores started to sell clothing and merchandise relating to Fortnite. From mid July 2017 to late 2019, Fortnite was booming, but then the designers changed the maps and game modes. Kids went to other games: Apex Legends, Call Of Duty Warzone, and even PUBG.
The world thought Fortnites fate was sealed and Fortnite would never be the same, just another fad game. BUT, there was news! On the 3rd of November 2023, Fortnite was reportedly taking us back to the “good old days” (the old maps), where many of us made good memories from when we were little. The Fortnite community and many Knoch students were celebrating this monumental event.
The OG Fortnite map is known and loved by many. People had their favorite locations where special events occurred–the Travis Scott concert, the rocket event, and where Loot Lake is picked by the Cube. Players had their own favorite drop spots!
Sophomore Kamryn Burtner said, “Tilted Towers because there is lots of loot.”
Sophomore Vinnie Defelice later chimed in saying, “Flush Factory is mine because of all the toilets.”
The drop spots are not the only important part of the game; there are strategies with guns, teammates, and even building.
Sophomore Koen Sundie always gets exhilarated when seeing, “the Impulse grenades. You can get moving pretty quickly.”
Sundie loves who he plays with, he calls them, “the Gang. Y’know, me, Kamryn Burtner, Dante Pelloni(me), and Vinnie Defilice.”
But, as many know, there is one thing that always ruins the game. The Gang all agrees;
“Sweats have ruined the game.”
(If you don’t know what a sweat is, you’re WAY too old)
Most of the Fortnite community has returned and many are happy. All that is left to see now is if this resurgence of the game we knew and loved will stick, or if it will once again fall into obscurity. So, get your gang together, ask “where we droppin’ boys?” and remember: always thank the bus driver!
