I went on a trip with my friends to Florida. We flew down by ourselves with no parents. What could possibly go wrong? I normally do dumb stuff but I think someone told me one time that “you either live and you learn”. So, with that being said, these are the things I learned while on vacation.
#1 Don’t screw around at TSA
I’m not one to be a morning person, so I’m not sure why I was so amped up at 4:30 am to go through a metal detector. But, we were screwing around with this paper clip and putting it on each other’s backs without the other person knowing, so when you would walk through security you would go off. This lady behind us wasn’t really feeling it and kinda yelled at us. She said, “C’mon guys stop screwing around. People have flights to catch. It’s called travel etiquette.” She’s just a Karen and needs to chill out.
#2 Don’t be on school grounds without a shirt while school is going on
To be fair we were just playing baseball on their field, but they made it seem like it was a big deal. We were probably on the field for a good 30 minutes until two fat guys pulled up on a golf cart with walkie talkies thinking they were tough, but in reality they probably only make $35,000 a year. They told us, “We were scaring the little kids and if we didn’t leave there was gonna be problems”. We ended up finding a better field anyway, so it really didn’t matter.
#3 Don’t hit golf balls towards people’s houses
The golf course we were at was in the middle of a neighborhood. The last few holes were caked anyway so, I decided to hit the remainder of the balls I had left at the houses. We would hit the ball and just wait for the sound of the ball to hit the houses. We had to book it out of there in the golf carts, so we didn’t get caught. I wouldn’t recommend doing that.
#4 Don’t sleep with a tablecloth
I really didn’t have a choice because @jstallsmith5 took my blanket. I tried to tough it up but I was sleeping right under the AC vent. I was freezing so I went into some random closet and found a tablecloth. It really didn’t do anything, and I had one of the worst sleeps of my life.
#5 Don’t take pictures of random people on an airplane
This is probably up there for one of the dumbest things I’ve ever done. We were coming back from Florida, and I had a whole row to myself. I was laying down and some funny looking
dude was sitting right across from me. My first instinct was to take a picture of him. I pulled out my phone and took a picture. I didn’t realize the flash was on so the guy obviously knew. It was also a night flight so the flash was in full effect. The dude seemed pretty mad and said something to me, but it wasn’t in English, so I couldn’t understand what he said. After that he,went back to watching some weird cartoon on his phone and didn’t say anything the rest of the flight.
Overall I learned a lot of things, and will try not to do these things again.
This is what some other Knoch students had to say about their educational trip.
