Did you know there is a new Starbucks location in Sarver? It opened on December 1st, 2023 and is located off of South Pike Road. Though it is 15 minutes away from our school, many students and faculty frequently visit the new location.
Although I live 30 minutes away from it, I personally have been there around twice a month. I love going to Starbucks, and when I am over in Sarver, nothing can stop me from going in. When you go in there, you see more familiar faces of both students and faculty. This is definitely different because at the other close Starbucks locations in Butler and Gibsonia, you rarely see people you know.
Senior Alaina Fields said that she is a big fan of Starbucks and the new location is very practical for her.
“I feel great, I love the new location,” said Fields. “The new Starbucks is around 11 minutes away from my house and is on my way to work. I go multiple times a week.”
Fields felt that though it is extremely practical for her, the majority of her bank account goes to Starbucks.
“I spend way too much money there,” said Fields.
Senior Jade Nether has similar thoughts as Fields on the new location. Nether regularly goes to Starbucks, and having another location brings more of a temptation.
“I like the new Starbucks location because it is way closer to me than the one in Gibsonia, Hampton, or Butler,” said Nether. “The new one is just over 10 minutes away.”
A common theme for some students at Knoch is going to get a drink after school. Nether also occasionally does this.
“After school I go every now and then with Kenzie Gumto (me!), especially when they have deals,” said Nether.
Nether still to visit the local coffee shop as well.
“I still enjoy the coffee shop and will still go there, especially if I need to study or something,” said Nether. “It is much quieter.”
Mrs. Lampus is a local resident of Sarver. She lives 2 minutes away from the Sarver Starbucks and feels there are benefits to it other than the coffee.
“The new location is constantly busy, so it’s good for the community,” said Mrs. Lampus.
Mrs. Lampus brought a new side to the argument of Starbucks coming into Sarver. She feels that the new location could be causing the small businesses to get less customers.
“I am a fan of Starbucks, but I always choose a local coffee shop first if one is available,” said Mrs. Lampus.
Though it’s a big change having a new chain business move into Sarver, she doesn’t think it takes away from the quaint town feel.
“Having the Starbucks come into Sarver is not ruining the small town charm,” said Mrs. Lampus. “Burger King, Arby’s, Get-Go, and Sheetz already did that.”
Junior Allison Smith enjoys the new Starbucks because it cuts a few minutes off of her travel time.
“The new location is very convenient and closer to my house which I appreciate, ” said Smith. “The Starbucks I used to drive to was 15 minutes away in Gibsonia compared to the new Starbucks in Sarver which is 8 minutes away.”
With Starbucks now being a little closer, it encourages her to attend a lot more than before.
“The new location 100% causes me to go more, ” said Smith. “I go once a week now and my whole paycheck goes toward it!”
Smith doesn’t feel a change in Sarver’s small town charm.
“I don’t feel that the Starbucks chain coming into Sarver has ruined the small town charm because our area has been becoming more suburban before Starbucks even opened,” said Smith.
