Headline: Construction Concert Chaos

Have you heard that Knoch’s concerts were held at Butler High School this year? If you had, then you probably heard that the reason for this is the construction at Knoch. The construction has caused a lot of problems for the music department but especially the high school choir concert.
Senior Lauren Howard said, “I was concerned that we would have issues with dresses/tuxes, as well as the choir robes. Unfortunately, those fears did happen, but it made the concert a little less serious, so I had fun with it.”
The issue with the choir robes was that some of the robes were put on the wrong hangers. So, some people had trouble finding theirs.
There were many obstacles thrown at the choir students this year, but they handled these obstacles as well as they could. They had to make some changes but overall did the best they could and had fun with it. The audience seemed to enjoy the concert very much. The concert being moved also affected their performance.
Howard said, “I believe that my performance was affected because we didn’t get to rehearse before the concert, as we usually would. The acoustics were also very different and it made the rest of the choir quieter, so I felt I had to perform louder.”
This was very disappointing news to the senior choir students who weren’t able to perform their last concert at their school. Howard is one of the choir students that this affected. Of course she was disappointed that she couldn’t perform at her school for her final concert, but she embraced the situation and had a good time.
Howard said, “I feel that it’s unfortunate that moving to a different district was our best option. I would’ve loved to have a (at least somewhat) working auditorium for my last concert, but at the same time, I’m glad that we had another option.”
Of course senior choir students weren’t the only ones affected by this. All choir students were affected in practice and their dress rehearsal. They ended up having to have their dress rehearsal the day of the concert.
Howard said, “I think this affected all of the choir classes equally.”
The students weren’t the only people that this affected. This also affected the size of the audience. It was farther away than Knoch, so not everyone that wanted to go was able to come.
Howard said, “I usually have friends and extra family come to my concerts since they’re in the area, but for most of us, Butler High School is a farther drive so I personally had way less people arrive than my usual concert.”
Everyone was very disappointed that the choir concert was moved but especially the senior choir students.
Howard said, “I think that this whole situation was just unfortunate to say the very least. I wish that it wouldn’t have had to be the case of not celebrating my final concert at another school.”
At least they were able to enjoy one last concert even if it wasn’t at their school. As disappointed as everyone was about this news, they made the best of the situation.
Howard said, “Not only are my fellow seniors and I disappointed in the situation, but I’m sure we could all say that things just didn’t feel the same.”
