During the 2024 Knoch Knights baseball season, a lot of changes have been made. This year, the whole team chemistry has shifted.
“ It was crazy, the most fun I’ve had playing baseball in a while. I love the environment,” said sophomore JV player Kaden Dreher.
When interviewing both JV and Varsity players throughout this season to get both of their viewpoints on how everything is going. Let’s just say that the differences between these teams are insane.
The Varsity baseball team has a total record of 9-9, and has been on a very good winning streak as of lately. Earlier in this season there were many setbacks, such as team chemistry and overall leadership.
“It’s not the best and not that energetic,” said sophomore varsity player Cooper Allison.
There was a momentum shift these last couple weeks, and now the bar has never been set so high. The Knights have just made playoffs and are on top of the world. It helps that one of their star players, sophomore varsity player Ryan McCurdy has just come back from a shoulder injury.
“It’s fun to see the whole field, get to yell at pitchers,” Said McCurdy.
As you would expect, JV and varsity are very different. In regards to how they play, how they act, and everything they do together. JV and varsity don’t practice, play, or do anything together in regards to baseball.
“ The skill level is different, and JV is more energetic,” said Allison
As we know, the Varsity team has come back from a rough start to the season. The JV team has not had to come back from any major difficulty this season. They have been having a great season. Their energy is amazing and the team knows how to have fun.
“The difference between JV and Varsity is energy and we play as a team,” said sophomore Kaden Dreher
The JV also has a new coach. His name is Coach Dirt and he is fresh out of college. He played baseball at Pitt Bradford and is a good ball player himself.
“It’s really fun, he’s young so he’s easier to relate to. He brings a lot of energy,” said sophomore Kaden Dreher.
Talking to all of the JV players they seem to really like to have such a young and energetic coach to help mentor and coach them.
While the JV season has ended, they had a really good run. Varsity had come up short in a playoff game against a really good West Mifflin team. Both JV and varsity teams have had very good seasons and have improved much from last season, I think it is safe to say that we are already getting excited for what the 2024-2025 baseball season has to bring us.
