Knoch Dominates “Sons of Thunder” Power lifting Competition

On Saturday February 25, a few Knoch Knights (and some alum’s) competed in the Sons of Thunder power-lifting competition. Individually and as a team, the knights dominated. They were the Sons of Thunder 2017 Steel City Strongest Team!! The team consisted of two freshman, two juniors, one senior, and two Knoch High School alumni.
I give major props to these guys. Personally, I struggle lifting 20 pound weights so I couldn’t even imagine doing what these boys do on a daily basis.

Freshman Logan Carl –
Carl was in the 132 weight class, weighing in at 121. He won his weight class by benching 175!! Carl also won best bench for 14-15 year olds.

Freshman Brayden Crawford –
Crawford was in the 148 weight class, weighing in at 135. He placed third in the dead-lift competition by dead lifting 315!!

Junior Ivan Stapchuck –
Stapchuck was in the 181 weight class, and he weighed in at 171. He took first place in both events he participated in. He took home the gold by benching 280, and dead lifting 430.

Junior Corey Payne –
Payne was in the 220 weight class, weighing in at (unknown). Like Stapchuck, he took first in both of his events. He benched 360 and dead lifted 550. Payne also won the ‘Best Bencher’ award!

Senior Jayden Renfrew – 
Renfrew was in the 148 weight class, weighing in at 146. Renfrew took first in both events by benching 260 and dead lifting 430.

Alumni Tanner Durci –
Tanner Durci, a Knoch High School alumni from the class of 2016 was in the 198 weight class, weighing in at 197. He benched 250 to get third place and he dead lifted 525 to get second place!

Alumni Hunter Goldscheitter –
Gol
dscheitter,  a Knoch High School alumni from the class of 2016 was in the 220 weight class, weighing in at 210. He got first place for his weight class by benching 235.
