Some books are amazing and leave you speechless, keep reading to see if this book is one of those books. In this article I am going to be reviewing the book Better Than The Movies by Lynn Painter.
Honestly when I heard about this book I knew I had to read it. This book is a New York Times Bestseller and my favorite book genre is romantic comedies which is what this book is.
I feel like this book is just a Hallmark movie in a book. Personally I love Hallmark movies so that is perfect for me. However, if you don’t like romantic comedies or Hallmark movies this book probably isn’t for you.
I don’t want to spoil this book for anyone so I will just give you a quick overview of the book. Let me just start off by saying that this book is very well written and right from the start it captures your attention.
The book is about a bunch of teenagers in their senior year of high school and demonstrates the challenges of everyday life for the main character Elizabeth or as she is usually referred to as Liz Buxbaum.
Liz’s mom died in a car accident when Liz was only in the fifth grade. Her mom and her were super close before she died. Liz is kind of a romantic and her peers think it is strange. However, what her peers don’t know is that before Liz’s mom died her mom and her used to watch romance movies together and all Liz wanted was a happily ever after.
Of course when Liz found out her childhood crush was back in town she thought it was the perfect “meet cute.” Although she knew she wouldn’t be able to win him over herself and the only person that could help her was the one she despised the most, her next door neighbor Wes Bennet.
Liz went over to Wes’s house and made a deal with him and he agreed to help her. During their plan Liz starts to realize that Wes isn’t like how she always thought. She starts to develop feelings for him but she doesn’t think he feels the same way about her so she just tries to ignore them which turns out to be a lot harder than she thought.
This is all I’m going to say about that book. Personally I really enjoyed this book and would highly recommend it. I would rate this book an 8/10.
