Black Friday is a holiday that a lot of people don’t celebrate anymore. However, there are still some people that celebrate it but for the most part people just ignore the holiday all together but the people that do celebrate it are usually crazy about it. People have actually died on Black Friday because there were so many people just running through the stores trying to get the best sales.
There was a shootout at the Toys R Us in Palm Desert, California on Black Friday in 2008. “Two women began throwing verbal jabs and then actual jabs in the store’s electronics department,” according to https://money.howstuffworks.com/10-black-friday-horror-stories.htm.
There are Black Friday traditions that are less traumatizing though.
Mrs. Cratty said, “I go to the Saxonburg Holiday Party.”
Sophomore Karson Welsh dislikes that there are, “too many people shopping.”
Some students and teachers have family traditions for Black Friday.
“We have out of town family that comes for the Thanksgiving holiday and stays the weekend,” said Mrs. Cratty, “So, Black Friday is family time.”
What most people love the most about Black Friday are the amazing sales.
Sophomore Zoey Wyant said, “I love it and enjoy the Black Friday deals.”
Mrs. Cratty said, “I always check out the online deals.”
A lot of stores have already started announcing what their sales are going to be this year. Such as Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, etc.
Some places near us to go Black Friday shopping are The Ross Park Mall, The Clearview Mall, Walmart, Target. Of course there are other places as well; these are just a few recommendations.
Not all people are lucky enough to have off work, though. Many workplaces require their employees to work on Black Friday because they will most likely get the most customers then. It is estimated that around 43% of all workers are required to work on Black Friday.
A lot of people that go Black Friday shopping don’t even think about the fact that for them to shop at these stores other people have to work on this holiday. Some people even have to work midnights!
Welsh said, “I feel bad for them.”
Mrs. Cratty said, “I do feel bad if stores start their sales on Thanksiving and have the workers come in.”
Of course, every holiday has a Scrooge!

Although there have actually been people trampled to death on Black Friday. Black Friday is kind of like the Spanish Bull Run if you think about it.
“In 2008, a Walmart employee was trampled to death after a mob of Black Friday shoppers broke through the doors and rushed the store. Four shoppers, including a pregnant woman, were also injured,” according to https://money.howstuffworks.com/10-black-friday-horror-stories.htm
Natili said that what he dislikes the most about Black Friday is, “the ignorance and rudeness of people.”
