Construction has been an up-in-the-air-topic since it started, but there has been lots of progress made that some students are unaware about.
“I hope that for you guys, 9-12, that you’ll appreciate it,” said Mr. Trofimuk.
The last time the school was renovated or had any work done on it was in 1995, when they added the O-wing and worked on the gym.
Now, they’re working on a new office and cafeteria, and have already finished the nurses/guidance’s new offices and the upstairs bathroom.
“They are making new classrooms, a new cafeteria, and the counseling office is going to be moved,” said sophomore Karma Forty, “but that’s all I know.”
Those who work in guidance are in the process of moving to their new office, which features a sensory room, where students can go and calm themselves if need be.
To get to guidance’s new office, you have to walk through the auditorium until February, when the cafeteria is expected to be available for students.
Junior Danica Klimek said, “I’m excited to see the new lunch room. I wanna see it.”
Everyone, grades 9-12, will be eating in the same cafeteria. It has gorgeous windows that allow students to see the whole front of the school. It is also supposed to have a massive TV that’ll be on for students to watch.
This will be the commons area, where students and parents will walk in for the first time and be left with a good impression.
There is still more the school wants to accomplish but has yet to start, like a health and fitness center located in the current junior and senior cafeterias, new science rooms, and new bathrooms where guidance used to be.
Speaking of new bathrooms, the upstairs bathroom has been a point of contention for some students.
“I hate it, I think it’s stupid,” said Klimek.
On the other hand, Forty said, “It’s kindof awesome. It was weird that it smelt like a tackle box for a bit though.”
The science wing will be gutted out including the bathrooms infront of the nurses office, and will be turned into new science rooms. The hallway we know very dearly will be classrooms, and where the classrooms are will be the hallway.
Klimek said, “Our senior year is going to be funky.”
Overall, I am most excited to see what the school has in store for students when the cafeteria is finished.
“I have faith in our students,” said Trofimuk, “that they’ll keep the commons area nice.”
