The Turning Point: II

The following is Anthony Buzzelli’s personal testimony. Nothing will be changed or removed from this article as it is raw and true information.

The first time Jesus was brought up to me I hit the classic line, “I’ll wait until I’m older, done having fun partying and other sinful things,” or, “I’ll wait until I have my life figured out.” I kept living my life for drugs and everything of that sort. After about a year, I truly accepted Jesus into my heart, and I said “I’m going to give this a shot.” The very day before I did that, I was planning things with friends that, of course, weren’t going to do me too good. After that, I just started praying. At first it was weird, but I prayed for guidance on what my next step was, and I got that in the form of a conversation I had with my brother. He truly led me on the right path, but I came home and still fell into drugs and everything of that sort. But I’m now about 100 days sober. There’s so much throughout that journey that I can go back and say “Look at that, that’s God right there.” But the thing that shows it the most is how much he has changed my life, and how God can truly save you from those dark addictions. The biggest thing I’ve taken away from all that is that God is walking with you no matter how far you walk away. He loves you no matter how horrible you are. When you walk with him, you start to see the stuff in your life that isn’t good, and start to change. You never walk into a relationship with Jesus perfect. You don’t have to be perfect to follow God, you just have to earnestly try. I mean, you don’t clean yourself before getting in the shower do you? So why would you have to be perfect to follow Jesus? And in your walk, you won’t get everything right. You will fail, but it’s not about how you fall, it’s about how you get back up.
