Thinking Outside of the Picture Frame

Senior pictures: a time where you spend your whole day getting ready to go somewhere super fancy to get pictures. Why do that when you could choose a place much easier? Some old building or a pond may not sound too appealing, although once you see them, you might just change your mind.
Senior Kayla Edwards got her pictures done at Succop Nature Park.
“I chose this place because an old friend and I went there one day, and it was beautiful,” said Edwards.
Something simple, such as this place, is much better because it isn’t too far from home. You wouldn’t have to worry about spending most of your time driving there.
Another place such as Rails for Trails, in Cabot, is a wonderful and super close place to go. It doesn’t seem like much, but if you walk a little bit down the trail, there is a very beautiful scenery.
“It has some pretty old and ruinous looking buildings,” said senior Darius Stivenson, who went there for his pictures.
Stivenson also said that one of the buildings that are back there is from 1793!
You don’t have to travel to somewhere special, it is much easier to just find little places that no one would expect.
It may not be such a unique spot, but you could also try going to Roebling Park. It has some different places for pictures, such as the pavilion. You could try going to Todd’s Sanctuary, they have a Pond surrounded by multiple trees further back. If you go to Concordia, they have a place in the back that looks delightful. Or even try going to the Butler Country Club.
Yes, Pittsburgh is far away, although it still has some decent places. If you go to hidden places, they have some graffiti on buildings. Or you could also find some railroad tracks to take nice ones on. There is even a mansion up there that is pretty neat for them.
“When is a good time to schedule my senior pictures?” You may ask. If you are going to choose one of the certified photographers, you may want to schedule at least a year in advance. All of the spots do get full fast. It may sound like it is too early, but if you think about it, a ton of other people are scheduling as well.
On another note: all of the poses are basically the same. Girls sometimes do a pose where they put their hands on their chin, while laying on their stomach. For guys, they a lot of the time do a squatting pose where both of their hands are on their knees. There are also a bunch of pictures of people with their sports. Try something new, jazz it up a bit!
You could do poses such as lying on the ground, while someone takes the picture above you. Or even some pictures sitting down, there aren’t many of those. Making up your own poses just make your pictures so much more unique.
Anyways, the poses are an easy factor, just to the real problem. Pictures are SO expensive. You could just ask one of your family members to take them for you. After all, they will just be used in the yearbook. (Unless of course you choose to put them somewhere else.) You will not have to worry about paying a bunch of money that you could be saving up for college, or even a car. The only thing you will have to worry about paying is when it comes to getting them printed out.
Lastly, my friendly reminder to you: make sure when choosing a family member, you choose someone that doesn’t have shaky hands and will not make you pay.
