Senior Autumn Trepmus does it all in and out of school!

October 12, 2018

Q: What is your talent(s)?

A: I play rugby.

Q: Is this a hobby or do you see yourself doing this as a possible career?

A: It’s definitely a hobby because it’s way too hard on my body to continue as a career. However, I may play in college just for fun!

Q: How many times a week do you do this?

A: During the season we practice three times a week and have a game every weekend.

Q: How did you start this activity? Why?

A: I became interested in 9th grade when I saw that Austin Micko was playing. I started talking to him about it almost every day in our 9th grade English class, and I just became infatuated with the idea of playing it. I’ve always been in love with contact sports; however, mainstream sports for girls have such limited rules that playing a full contact sport was never an option for those.

Q: Anything else you’d like to add?

A: Rugby seems like such a tough sport and from the outside can be so intimidating. Which, rugby is a really tough sport, but it also is FREE therapy. It genuinely allows for such a good release of any emotions or feelings pent up. I am so much happier after a practice or a match because it just gives you an adrenaline rush unlike any other sport. It amazes me how tight knit the sport is. The entire Kiski Valley Rugby club is like one big family. Some of my best friends I met through rugby. Overall, it’s just afforded me so many opportunities, and built so many great relationships in my life.
