I’ve experienced a lot of angry customers at my job, but the worst experience happened this season. A couple weekends ago, the farm ran out of canning tomatoes. Customers where mad, and I mean really mad. The worst part was when a customer came into the store asking for canning tomatoes, and claiming that when she called, she was told we had some. First, she was screaming at a random store girl (sophomore Kaylynn Brumbaugh) who didn’t know what was going on, so she told the lady that she would check in the back. Kaylynn then sent me out to deal with the situation, even though I wasn’t supervisor. The tomato lady then yelled at me, claiming it was all my fault. At one point, she asked me “how did you let this happen!?!” BUT I WASN’T EVEN IN CHARGE!!! Still, I had to resolve the situation, so I did what I could, and ran into the back to salvage a half bushel of tomatoes. I have never sorted through so many tomatoes in such a short amount of time. Everything was a blur. And yet, the tomato lady still complained that we weren’t quick enough. I hate tomatoes now.
