“Wildlife and its habitat cannot speak, so we must and we will.” – Theodore Roosevelt

Ever open up snapchat, and see a bunch of dead animals. You’re confused, why would anyone possibly want to kill animals for a hobby. Well hunting is actually one of the most fascinating hobbies, and survival skills in the world.

Hunting, the practice of seeking, pursuing, and capturing or killing wildlife or feral animals. Something us humans have been doing for three million years. Hunting has taken a giant part of our lives. It has went from a way of human survival, to an everyday hobby.

Here is some students who hunt, and their input on it.

EXZAVIER JOHNSON

Johnson has had quite eventful hunting season so far. He got a doe, and a huge nine point already. I mean it’s obvious, he is a pro, Johnson has been hunting since he was just thirteen years old.

“The best hunting strategy is to find where the deer like to sleep,” said Johnson. “It is even better if there is a nearby corn field to hunt on the edge of.”

Johnson’s grandma makes an extremely delicious deer jerky that he seems to love.

“My grandma’s deer jerky recipe has the best smoky flavor.”

BROOKE SIMPSON

Simpson has been hunting for seven years. She hasn’t exactly started her season yet, but she has intentions to start soon. She enjoys hunting for white tails, but her favorite part of hunting is riffle season more than anything.

“Riffle season is my favorite,” said Simpson. “I did however get attacked by a squirrel during riffle season.”

Simpson’s best strategy when it comes to hunting, is to be quiet and just wait. Doing that has gotten Simpson some good kills.

“The best kill I got was a nine point, with a twenty inch frame,” said Simpson.

LOGAN KLEMM

Klemm has been hunting since he was three years old. He prefers to hunt predators like bears, coyotes, and bobcats. Klemm has had a pretty decent hunting season so far.

“The best hunting strategy is to sit and wait for the animals, and never chase,” said Klemm.

Let’s take a look at one of Klemm’s most eventful stories, from his many years of hunting.

When I was a little kid, I was hunting like it was any other day. It began to downpour. I was on a super high mountain. The mountain seemed to be ninety degrees. When I turned around there was a huge black bear, and its cubs. It scared the crap out of me.

LOGAN CYPHER

Cypher is just starting his hunting season. He hasn’t caught anything so far, but he has high hopes for the rest of the season.

Cypher has been hunting since he was eleven years old. He enjoys archery the most.

“Archery in my opinion is the most exciting time to hunt,” said Cypher.

“The first time I got a turkey was pretty exciting for me,” said Cypher. “I was in my backyard, and I saw a turkey. I tried to call it in, and it eventually came. I took my shot, out of my shed, and got it. It was so exciting for me.”

Cyphers favorite recipe to make after a long day of hunting is smoked turkey and bologna.

“Smoked turkey and bologna hit different after a long day out in the woods,” said Cypher.
