If you would have told Knoch fans and students that the Knights would be sitting at 3-0 going into Friday’s match-up, they would probably call you crazy.
But four weeks after opening night, they still remain undefeated. This is the first time since 2019 the Knights have started out 3-0, and the highest win streak since that season as well.
This is a big game to say the least, possibly the biggest since the Knights last playoff appearance all the way back in 2014. The Knoch football struggles over the past years has been no secret but this just feels different. This week Knoch earned the Steeler Showcase Game of the week, the Castle is going to be packed with a bunch of media in attendence.
Not only are the Knights 3-0 but so is Southmoreland. The Scotties, yes that is their mascot, are coming off a 3 point win over Derry last Friday. They have also seen more success over the last few years, with making the playoffs three out of the last four years. This match-up is not only a big game for the folks of the two schools, but one of the best games in WPIAL this week.
MY PREDICTION: Knoch 42-27
I’m going to take the Knights here, with the seemingly unstoppable connection of Codi Mullen and Kaden Spencer, Southmoreland is going to have their hands full. Not only do the Knights have a high scoring, high flying offense, they have a great defense that seems to get stops when they need it most. With an offensive minded- head coach in Tim Burchett, the Knights have clearly cleaned up the defense from last season. They hired Rob Moss and have only given up 86 points compared to the 124 they have given up last year to this point. Not only that, like I said before the Castle is going to be packed with one of the biggest attendances in recent history, and it’s Black and Yellow Night. I think the Knock Knights get it done here.
