The Knights Football Team is no longer as bad as the smelly sewage leak in the science hallway. This zero-to-hero team is crushing the WPIAL, along with the student body’s expectations.
Junior Offensive Lineman Wyatt Foster said,“ I feel like we will come out of this season with a positive record, and possibly make the playoffs.”
Senior Center Bennet Shaw and Junior Quarterback Codi Mullen talked about who they think the hardest team they will play this year will be.
”E.F (Elizabeth Forward); they are very good and they have a shot to make it all the way,” said Mullen.
This proved true with a 22-0 loss, making the Knights’ record 4-1.
Many early-year projections put the team at a low ranking, but through all the hatred and loss, the team finds a little brightness and excels. Coming into the season, the practices have changed, and many people have been working very hard to win. On top of all this, with head coach Tim Burchett returning, players understand the plays way more.
Shaw discussed how practices have differentiated.
Shaw said, “The intensity has been brought to a whole new level.”
Outside linebacker and running back Ethan Alwine chimed in too, “Faster Pace, more work being put in, and working more as a unit.”
The Knights prove that you can turn a decade of losing teams into a positive season. Many may be asking “Will they keep this up?” or “Will they fall off?”
Mullen said, “We will know what to do in good and bad situations, also we will all play as a team.”
Although the team had lost to the powerhouse, E.F. (Elizabeth Forward), many students and players still have high hopes for the rest of the season.
Senior Willow Danehy said, “Maybe the loss will make them fight even harder in the next game to continue to prove themselves (as long as they don’t hang their heads).”
