Holiday Landslide
We all know that one person who has their reindeer socks rockin’ and their Mariah Carey holiday songs blastin’ out of their speakers as soon as November 1st comes rolling around. Well, I’m here to get the scoop on the real feelings people have towards these types of “early celebrations” and report on all the excitement some might want to spread.
Senior Carly Bozzo has a couple opinions on this festive season herself.
“My favorite time of the year is from Thanksgiving to New Year’s so I’m counting down the days until then!!” said Bozzo.
Many other people have these same feelings about this holiday season. In most of the polls across the web, such as on thrillist.com, the guardian’s online paper, and cnbc.com, Christmas has always come out as #1 with Thanksgiving, New Years, and Halloween trailing close behind. This parallels with the students inside Knoch itself.
Sophomore Torrance Bajuzik on her ranking of favorite upcoming holidays said, “1) Christmas, 2) Halloween, 3) New Year’s, and 4) Thanksgiving.”
Even though all the math says Christmas is the most celebrated holidays in our nation, there’s still some controversial feelings – mainly surrounding Black Friday.
“I think that people can be very rude and crazy when it comes to getting the best sales,” said Bajuzik, “and I hope they don’t lose sight of the real meaning of Christmas.”
But that doesn’t mean the mood around this famous holiday is ALL craziness (even though it might feel like it sometimes). Christmas is a time to reconnect with members of your family you might not see frequently and make up for lost time.
“My family and I always go over to my grandmother’s house for Christmas Eve festivities,” said Bozzo. “We eat, talk to some family members we don’t see often, and play a VERY COMPETITIVE game.”
Along with this time of year comes great excitement, joy, love, and happiness. Here at the Knight Times, we would all like to wish you a safe and merry upcoming holiday season.
Ever since I was little, I’ve had what my dad calls a “gasoline-rear,” meaning I could never stay in one place for long; always wanting to go out and explore. Whether that be going out to eat with friends or shopping for something I probably don't need, I’m constantly on the run.
I have big dreams of making it to the city and becoming something great, even though all my plans on getting there are still fuzzy. I'm looking into going for a business major but school is still undecided :)
But as for now, I’m still a student at Knoch just like the rest of you, waiting for the day I can throw my cap in the air and have my diploma in hand. So while we’re all here, why not make the most of it and go out and adventure some more.
