Abnormal Albums номер 2

*WARNING* The band is a wee bit vulgar. *WARNING*

Band Name: Death Grips

Album: Exmilitary

Background: Death Grips is an experimental hip hop group straight out of Sacramento, CA.  It’s a three-piece band consisting of vocalist MC Ride, drummer/producer Zach Hill, and recording engineer Andy Morin. Starting out in 2010, the band has released 6 albums, 1 mixtape, and 5 other releases to critical acclaim. Their main genre is experimental hip hop, but they have also experimented with rap rock, industrial hip hop, and electropunk.

Weirdness: Hoo boy, are they weird. It’s honestly kind of hard to explain. The best way to show how weird they are is to talk about what they’ve sampled for their songs. Examples: A printer, a tennis match, Charles Manson and music from Saharan cellphones.

Accessibility: Very hard. Possibly one of the hardest bands to get into, ever. Their sound is so original, but very abrasive and rough.  Metal fans will probably have the easiest time trying to listen to them.

Flow: Pretty good, actually. Each song flows pretty well from one another, with the ends of some songs working as the beginning of others, not to mention the two transition tracks.

Feeling: You’ll feel really aggressive listening to this, so it’s pretty good to listen to if you’re working out or meditating.

Length: The length of the entire album is 48:31. Really average.

Final Verdict: If you’re looking for a listening challenge, look no further. That’s all i got.

Rating: Very good, at least for me. I guarantee that most people that try to listen to Death Grips will absolutely hate it. I am not most people. Beauty in the eye of the beholder and all that.
