Tips and Tricks for Great Pics: Vantage Point

Jocelyn Adley, Staff writer

One of the easiest tricks in the book has to be changing your vantage point. By elevating the angle that the photo is taken at, you can completely change the whole feel of the photo. This will also give a thinner appearance to the subject in the photo. When you want to show off a particular outfit, this trick may also come in handy because you can see more of the outfit in more detail than if you were to put the camera further away to fit the whole, well fit. At the same time, a lower angle has almost a dominant or authoritarian feel to the photo, as apposed to straight on. In a different aspect, changing you vantage point will set your photos apart from the thousands of straight on portraits we see on Instagram every day.
