Lots of Disappoint and Tears

Lots+of+Disappoint+and+Tears

For the first time in forever, aka two years, Knoch is having a school sponsored Homecoming event. This year both the sophomores and freshman will be experiencing this event for the first time. Being that a lot of dress shops did not have the flow of incoming customers last year, a lot of places chose to not order homecoming dresses this year.

  1.       Find a dress that hopefully fits and no one else has

  2.       If the dress does not fit go to a seamstress and hope they can fix it on time

  3.       Once the dress fits find accessories and figure out a hair style

  4.       Figure out if you are going with a group and or date

  5.       Figure out plans for pictures and food

  6.       Go to the football game

  7.       Get a good night sleep

  8.       Wake up

  9.       Do your make up and figure out how to do your hair

  10.   Go to a friend’s house or the restaurant

  11.   Go to the school

  12.   Have fun at the dance!!!

POV. You go out to get a dress. You just want a plain black one. You go to JC. Penny’s at Ross Park because you figured it will be cheaper and your sister works there so you can ask her to buy it with her discount. You look all around for dresses but can only see old lady brunch dresses. You ask the kind old lady where the HOCO dresses are and she says they are not in season yet. You have had enough and start to cry.

I myself have had many problems trying to find a dress.  I went to David’s Bridal and they had like five dresses and they were not pretty. I tried on one and thought what was going on in the designers mind. I also went to Enchanted Bridal and had a wonderful conversation with the sales associate. The only problem is they were not doing homecoming dresses, and she told me they were not doing homecoming or prom dresses. They had the old prom dresses on sale but they were all not in the right style.

So most girls ended up buying dresses online with the hope that the dress fit. Sadly many dresses did not fit or they are not coming in time leaving girls to wear dresses they wore before that don’t match the theme or ask friends to borrow.

So this year dresses are a complete mess. We can just hope that everything turns out for the best.

Now getting into another weird thing about the dance this year. It is outside. The reason being is because of Covid we would have to wear masks if the dance was in doors.

One nice thing about being outside is we have tents. The tents will be useful for lights, wind blockers, and overall a place to be. There will be a main tent and then other tents with food or places to take pictures.

I hope, like everyone else, that this will be a fun time….

After Fact :

  1. Go to dance

  2. Wait in line for your date to go to the car because you thought since it is an outdoor dance you would not need masks

  3. Walk from the front to the back of the school then wip off your mask

  4. Take maybe two pictures in front of the sign

  5. Say you are going to keep your heels on for as long as you can

  6. Take two seconds to stand and think about the last step until you hear the wobble and throw them off

  7. Get a drink and eat candy

  8. Slow dance with friends or your date

  9. Dance to cotton eye joe for the thousandth time

  10. Ask your friends if they want to leave

  11. Leave though the school to get to your car

  12. Pass out as soon as you get home

So to wrap up what happened at the dance, it was a fun time, with people dancing and eating all night. There was candy, water, and a DJ. Noor and Ava won king and queen. The dance was not a disaster.
