As the weather gets colder, and the days get shorter, which means one time of year is coming; winter. Not only winter, but winter sports. Before the sports get going, here are some of our athletes of the season.

Swim

Name: Ava Fields

Grade: 12

When are practices starting? They will probably be starting the week of the 15th.

How is the team looking for this season? Small, but we have some hope for underclassmen coming up.

Who are some key players? Maria Wilson and Caden Traggiai.

What are the expectations for this season? Even though we are small, we are hoping for a good season and to be a close knit group.

What should fans expect? For our PARENTS who actually come, expect us to be happy and ready to perform regardless of the situation.

Who do you feel will be the biggest rival this year? It seems to always be Deer Lakes. We are very evenly matched with them and it’s always a good match between them.

How is this year different from the previous? COVID restrictions are much lighter this year. Hopefully we will be able to swim in the lanes we want and not have to split up.

Do you feel confident about this season? In myself yes, and I’m eager to see how the others will look.

Hockey

Name: Kyle Hawks

Grade: 12

Position: Assistant Captain

Have practices started already? Yes, they started in July.

How is the team looking for this season? We’re looking pretty good, besides a few injuries

Who are some key players? Alex Cotton, Cale Patten, Braden Esplen, Evan Moody, Alec Lattanzio

What are the expectations for this season? Hopefully we win the ‘ole Stanley Cup

What should fans expect? Some rowdy games, hopefully pack the barn.

Who do you feel will be the biggest rival this year? Penn Trafford

How is this year different from the previous? We aren’t playing as strong, we lost a lot of key players.

Do you feel confident about this season? Yes

Is there anything you’d like to add? Roll Knights Pack the Barn.

Bocce

Name: Sophie Brandon

Grade: 12

When are practices starting? First week of December.

How is the team looking for this season? I’m still yet to meet everyone.

Who are some key players? This is my first year playing bocce.

What are the expectations for this season? To have fun and I sure hope we go undefeated.

What should fans expect? A good season from everyone.

Who do you feel will be the biggest rival this year? I don’t know yet, but I hope for a good competition from everyone.

How is this year different from the previous? I didn’t play last year.

Do you feel confident about this season? Yes I think it will be fun.

Is there anything you’d like to add? Let’s go Knights go out and support your bocce team.

Wrestling

Name: Nathaniel Becker

Grade: 12

When are practices starting? Pre-season starts Monday, November 8th

How is the team looking for this season? We have some strong members on the team and should compete well this season.

Who are some key players? Gavin McGowan is probably the best wrestler on the team and we all expect exciting things this year to see from him. He will definitely help put points on the board.

What are the expectations for this season? This year we expect to do well.

What should fans expect? Fans should be ready for some exciting matches.

Who do you feel will be the biggest rival this year? Burrell

How is this year different from the previous? We should have more matches since COVID is dying down a little, last year a lot were canceled.

Do you feel confident about this season? I plan on competing hard and giving everything I have, I think this will be one of my best seasons.

Girls Basketball

Name: Maddie Boyer

Grade: 12

Position: Guard

When are practices starting? November 19th

How is the team looking for this season? We are looking pretty good, even though we lost a strong senior, Neveah Ewing, and one of our starting players, but our underclassmen are looking good.

Who are some key players? Myself, Nina Shaw, Hattie McGraw, Mackenzie McGraw, Cece Kosecki & Naturelle Ewing

What are the expectations for this season? Win Sections and make it to states this year

What should fans expect? We work hard, so a good season to watch with hard working players

Who do you feel will be the biggest rival this year? Highlands

How is this year different from the previous? We are hoping for a full season and not have to wear masks on the court.

Do you feel confident about this season? Yes, once we get all the girls together for practice, we should look good.

Is there anything you’d like to add? Looking forward to my last season, and hopefully we can accomplish our season goals.

Boys Basketball

Name: JJ Szebalskie

Grade: 12

When are practices starting? There are open gyms, but practices start on the 23rd.

How is the team looking for this season? We’re still good and ready to build off of last year

Who are some key players? Ryan Lang, Keagan Fraser, myself and James Snyder.

What are the expectations for this season? Deep run in the playoffs

What should fans expect? A lot of wins

Who do you feel will be the biggest rival this year? Not sure on our schedule, but it’s usually Highlands

How is this year different from the previous? We lost our “true big man,” Zack McMillen, but this year we are more guard oriented, making us more fast paced.
