With summer coming up quickly, students are sure to be ready for everyday freedom and sleeping in! However, some students are choosing to take on some responsibility this summer–with work!
“I have just sent out two applications,” said freshman Makenna Klutschkowski “I want to work in a good environment, with a part or full time job.”
While some are just starting to send out applications, other students have already found their workplace, and are going to continue working there during the summer,
Sophomore Max Dadowski said, “[I work at] Ambrose Farm [in] Cabot, PA.”
Very descriptive, Max! A farming job is a good selection for those who are looking to get experience in agriculture. And very tan…or burnt.
While work is a big part of the summer, if you make it that way, sports and personal time also have their significance during break.
“I have Knochettes, dance, and a vacation that I would have to balance out,” said Klutschkowski.
Dadowski said, “I was able to balance working and playing sports.”
Something to keep in mind whenever applying to or starting a job is that you have to be a team player. This requires you to work well with others. Luckily, these students have self assessed to demonstrate what a good student employee should be like.
“I think I will handle the pressure well,” said Klutschkowski. “I like to work and get along with others. I hope to gain responsibility.”
Dadowski said, “I put in as much effort as everyone else.”
According to resources unknown, the top jobs for highschool students in our area include: Shepard’s Coffee Co., Saxonburg Coffee & Tea, Saxonburg Tearoom on Main, Kiki and Lolo’s, Subway, etc.
If you are interested in any of these jobs, consider calling in or visiting to ask for an application!
There are also many other available jobs that are not in the direct area of the high school, so ask a counselor or friend for information about those!
To those who are looking to apply for a summer job, take these options into consideration. It should also be said that you should listen to your fellow working students, because they have experience!
“I would recommend SEBCO to students, because it’s a very good business,” said Klutschkowski. “It was easy to work there, and we communicated through an app. We also had schedules made in advance, so I could plan what days I would need off.”
Dadowski said, “It’s honest work.”
