Well well well, it’s the end of the year already. Bright and long summer days and sleeping in instead of waking up dreadfully at 6 are so back.
Another thing that recently got unvaulted at the perfect time, was the hacky sack.
For a little context, hackysack is a game played by a group of people trying to keep a little knitted ball in the air as long as possible without letting it touch the ground. My unc dad told me he used to be great at it, but I’ve never been less sure of anything in my life.
The sack train started in the 1970s, and peaked in the 1980s, before quickly dying out as time went on. Now, almost 40 years removed from its peak, sacking has made the comeback of the century.
Out of absolutely nowhere, the sack became the most popular game in the entire world. Everybody was feigning for some sack in their life, and just before summer was the greatest time the sack could have picked to come back.
Knoch students had Instagram and TikTok accounts made, study halls where normally you just lay around, added some excitement, the last 20 minutes of 5th period where you’re on your phone the entire time got competitive because sacking is such a fun endeavor.
It takes little skill to have fun at this game. The huge rallies are addicting, along with creating some crazy memories, just by using a little tiny sack and your feet.
The sack seems here to stay, so I wonder how much longer it will last. Is this just another wave of a trend that nobody will remember in a month? Or, is this something that will stay in our lives for a while because it is easy, convenient, and most importantly lots of fun?
I guess we will find out sooner or later.
Have a great summer Knoch Knights.
