I’m sure that you all have seen the “Soups and Salads” sign, and wondered, “Where are the soups?” I’m here to tell you where they went, but first, did you know that those who work in the cafeteria are not employed directly by the school?
“The District hires AVI just to do everything, we create the menus, do catering events, cash control, etc,” said Director of Food Services, Ryan Wilson.
With that being said, the district does not control what lunches the students are served, AVI FoodSystems does.
“It’s highly regulated by the FDA,” said Mr. Wilson. “We work with regional dietitians hand and hand to create five week cycle menus.”
This company feeds students on college campuses, in schools, and even has their ties into the Healthcare and Entertainment Industries.
“It’s a full operation,” said Mr. WIlson
Although this company has been with the school for four years, Mr. Wilson has been with us for only three months. Therefore he had no say in the planning of the construction and has no ties to the misleading “soups and salads” sign.
Mr. Wilson said, “At one time we did have soup on a regular basis, but it didn’t sell.”
The only soup, if it can be considered soup, is chilli.
“I’m a big soup guy,” said senior Noah Musloe (otherwise known as Lil Muz.) “I like wedding soup, maybe a lil lobster bisque.”
Senior Braylee Ireland would also be curious to see what soups the school would offer.
But what about the rest of the food offered in the cafeteria, is it any good?
“It’s not bad,” said Ireland. “There are a decent amount of options.”
I agree with Ireland, there are a lot of options and they aren’t terrible options either.
Many students have their favorites such as the popcorn chicken bowl, the buffalo chicken pizza, the sandwich bar…
“My fav lunch is prolly the burgers,” said Musloe. “Most protein tbh.”
Breakfast is another fan favorite, as 25% of the student body get breakfast everyday. If you didn’t know, breakfast is free!
But there is one thing stuck on everyone’s minds (including mine) and that is:
“Soups,” said Ireland.
The “soups and salads” sign has become a hot topic among students, whether or not we should have soups or what soups the school should offer. In my opinion, we should bring back soups. It wouldn’t hurt, but Musloe has another idea.
“If Knoch could put in a Chipotle that would be dope,” said Musloe.
