As the school year is coming to its slow, unfortunate close, students at Knoch are eagerly anticipating one of the most exciting events; prom. This annual celebration is not only a dance; it’s a straight pathway to great memories and a touch of glamour.
Senior Jessica Farbacher said, “I am most looking forward to getting ready for prom and taking pictures. I feel like it is going to be a fun night and one to remember being that we only have a senior prom.”
Prom will surely be a night to remember. The theme is A Great Gatsby prom. Some students knew of this theme and liked it/didn’t like it. Some didn’t even know about it! You would think with the way things travel fast around here, people would know the theme of prom!
Farbacher said, “I think it is a fun theme. I just wish that they would have said the theme sooner so people could actually plan to match it with their dresses.”
Senior Clint Critchlow was one of the few who weren’t informed about, or rather didn’t pay attention to the theme. He said, “I don’t even know what it is.”
But what are these incredible seniors wearing to prom? Are they buying first, or second-hand? What are the trending colors?
Senior Sydney Snyder said, “My dress is light purple with silver embellishments. I found my dress at Goodwill a year ago. I wasn’t looking for a prom dress, I just happened upon it, I liked it, and it fit, so I bought it.”
On the male side of things, Critchlow didn’t specify if he is wearing a tuxedo or suit, but his tie will be a “raspberry color” to match his girlfriend’s dress.
Critchlow said, “I’m going with my girlfriend because she’s my girlfriend.”
Yet another straightforward answer from the seniors!
Some helpful information for the guys is that buying your suit or tux instead of renting it could be easier on your pockets.
According to suit website TipTop, “A rented suit for prom can save money if you plan on only wearing a suit once in your life. When it comes down to the numbers, the average cost of a prom suit rental is $100-200. Buying a suit from Tip Top ranges between $200-450 depending on the designer and style. So, if you’re planning to attend anything after your prom that requires a suit – like a wedding, family party, or job interview – you’ll be saving money.”

“I bought one because it was honestly cheaper,” said Critchlow.
Though some students are going with their significant others, Snyder is inviting a junior friend instead!
Snyder said, “I’m taking my friend, Ava West. She’s super fun to hang out with.”
Along with this, Snyder is going to a friend’s house after prom to have fun and hang out. Some seniors haven’t decided what they are doing yet, like Farbacher.
Critchlow said, “[I will] go to an after party.”
Though some might think that it would be a silly idea to go and party after a whole night of partying, the seniors are a little iffy on how entertaining the prom might actually be.
Farbacher said, “I feel like my expectations are just to have fun and for it to be better than homecoming.”
In agreement with this, Snyder said, “I’m not a fan of dancing, but I hope the music is better than it was at homecoming.”
In conclusion, let’s all wish the best for our seniors and their prom, and good luck to some of us lucky underclassmen who get to go for being invited!
Sydney Snyder said, “I think if it’s executed well it will create a really nice atmosphere.”
